the spirit of the times
In case you haven’t heard - this weekend on the East Coast might get a little messy. Like many of you, we (or rather, those of us who remain zoneless) were planing to spend it holed up in our apartments, clutching one another in fear until hysteria drives us to an all-out brawl over the last can of garbanzo beans.
However, to distract ourselves from the abject horror of having to spend time with our roommates, we decided instead to stockpile on the most necessary survival supplies of all - movies, battery power, and booze.
Here are our planned pairings (battery charges permitting):

Mid-August Lunch and some pinot noir - Italian, preferably. Not a drop of rain is to be had in this film, set in a sweltering Italian summer. Wine, however, is prevalent.

A Town Called Panic and Abita’s Purple Haze - the stop-motion adventures of Horse, Cowboy, and Indian will render you so joyful, Irene will have come and gone without you noticing… but if you do notice, you have Purple Haze.

Examined Life and a Sazerac - engage your inner-philosopher while you sip on this, thought to be one of America’s oldest cocktails. Here’s one recipe.
Any movie/drink combos you’d like to suggest, before the liquor stores close?
