    Bill Cunningham and the Culturati Caucus

    Bill Cunningham makes a double appearance in this month’s New York Magazine! Among the various subheadings of NYMag’s “Culturati Caucus” are “Movies I Wish I’d Made” and “Best Film Performance”. In the first, Colum McCann (author of the 2009 Booker Prize forLet the Great World Spin) wishes (via arrow infographic) that he’d made Bill Cunningham New York.

    Kinda fits. Let the Great World Spin is very much a portrait of New York and the people who make it as wonderful/terrible as it is. New Yorkers can be a glum bunch sometimes, so we can see why McCann would’ve liked to make something as uplifting as Bill Cunningham New York. High praise!

    And here’s Bill as the only non-actor to be listed among these great performers (omitted from this image is the marvelous Kristen Wiig - sorry Kristen!):
